Cowbelly : Our cowbellies, of European origin, allow very soft leathers, with a natural stretch and strong mechanical performances highly appreciated for technical gloves. Each belly is about 2.5 to 3m long and 25 to 30cm wide, with an average surface area of about 9 SF depending on the grade. Key features: suppleness, strength, touch. > See the schematic
Drums : small rotating wooden vats used when tanning and dyeing.
Drumming : optional action to finish and make up the natural grain and increase the supleness of leather.
Fleshing : Once the unhairing is completed, drums are emptied and bellies ready to be fleshed. Fleshing is to mechanically remove the excess of fat and flesh.
Glazing : facultative mechanical finish action closing the grain and allowing its shiny aspect.
Grain : dense fibrous structure which is located in the hairy follicle.
HTT : technical leather (cowbelly) with anti-heat, water repellent & oil repellent drum treatments allowing an anti heat / fire protection in wet conditions.
Hydro : technical leather (cowbelly) with waterproof treatment and drum dyeing for security gloves.
Nepskin : technical leather (cowbelly) with waterproof treatment and drum dyeing, presenting a good water and abrasion resistance for sports and military gloves.
Oléo : technical leather (cowbelly) with oil repellency and waterproof treatments as well as drum dyeing.
Peach touch : a light sanding allowing a velvety grain and therefore a silky and lightweight leather.
Setting out : mechanical action of opening the leather to allow even drying and its amazing suppleness.
Silicone : technical leather (cowbelly) with drum dyeing treatments for resistance to electric arc in wet conditions.
‘WA’ washable : technical leather (cowbelly), which thanks to special treatment and drum dyeing, is not distorted, do not bleed and remain supple after domestic washing machine usage.
