Cowbellies result from the butting operation which consists in dividing the full raw hides into 4 parts :

• One Butt or "croupon"
• One Shoulder or "collet"
• Two Bellies.

Each one showing specific characteristics, tannors had to adapt their process.

Bellies represent 30 to 35 % of the surface of the skin.

On these parts of the hides, texture and grain aspect are showing less defects, making COWBELLIES especially adapted to SOFT LEATHER production called NAPPA.

Very smooth grain for NAPPA leathers.

Small proportion of defective skins showing grain defects.

Appraised by glove makers, the genuine stretch of this type of SOFT leather (from 0.5 to 1.4 mm thick) makes outstandlingdly comfortable gloves.

Higher mechanical performances especially regarding abrasion and tearing resistance (both required for technical safety gloves).

Within a wide range of leathers, our company's reknown is based on some "specialities" such as :

• Our WASHABLE leathers, withstanding domestic machine washing used either for full-leather items or as yokes in combination with textile.
• Our SUPER - WATERPROOF leathers, Registered trade mark NEPSKIN.
• Our technical leathers : Registered trade mark HIGH TECHTAN, meant for safety gloves, requiring COMBINED PERFORMANCES: high waterproofness, oil and heat resistance.
• Our CHROME-FREE leathers (registered trade mark NATURA) meant any time dermatosis or allergies may occure

In partnership with customers and final users, our tannery has been striving for developping new technologies and always processing high performing leathers, anticipating tomorrow's requirements.

In the lime stage, we sort the bellies in 3 selections (grade), according to the market they will be sold on (i.e. Safety, Sport, or garment).
